I have had a long and varied career, and and have enjoyed my experiences with the various orchestras with which I have been associated, such as the Illinois Philharmonic and Des Moines Metro Opera. I have recently retired from playing with the Illinois Philharmonic, and have just retired from the Des Moines Metro Opera.\u00a0 Below, in reverse chronological order is the listing of the major ensembles that I have been associated with.<\/p>\n

\nIllinois Philharmonic Orchestra<\/a>
\nPark Forest, IL November 2004 – May 2016
\nPrincipal Timpanist
\nServed as principal timpanist of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra in all rehearsal and concert activities.<\/p>\n

Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra<\/a>
\nElmhurst IL November 2003 – November 2015

\nServed as principal timpanist of the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra in all rehearsal and concert activities.<\/p>\n

Des Moines Metro Opera<\/a>
\nIndianola IA 1998 -2016 (on leave 2017 and retired 2018)
\nPrincipal Timpanist
\nServed as principal timpanist for the main stage and off-season productions of the Des Moines Metro Opera for nineteen seasons.<\/p>\n

Savannah Symphony Orchestra
\nSavannah GA 2002-2003
\nActing Principal Timpanist
\nServed as acting principal timpanist of the orchestra during the 2002 – 2003 season.<\/p>\n

The Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra<\/a>
\nOslo NORWAY 1983 – 1999
\nSolo Timpanist
\nServed as solo (principal) timpanist of the Oslo Philharmonic in rehearsal, concert, tour and in over forty (40) commercial recordings on the Chandos, Sony Classical, EMI\/Angel and Aurora recording labels.
\nIn addition, performed as soloist in a performance of Bartok: Concerto for Two Pianos, Percussion and Orchestra, November 1983; Final movement of Werner Th\u00e4richen: Concerto for Timpani and Orchestra, May 1989.
\nAlso participated in over twenty-five international tours with the orchestra to such places as the United States, Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Beijing and Hong Kong, PRC.<\/p>\n

The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra<\/a>
\nOslo NORWAY 1987 – 1998
\nTimpanist
\nServed as timpanist in rehearsals and concerts of the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra during this period, as well as in recording activities; also appeared with the orchestra in performances at the BBC Proms in 1991, 1994 and 1997, as well as at Salisbury Cathedral (1994) and the 1997 Stavanger Music Festival.<\/p>\n

The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra<\/a>
\nThe Owensboro Symphony Orchestra<\/a>
\nEvansville IN
\nOwensboro KY 1980 – 1983
\nPrincipal Timpanist
\nServed as principal timpanist of both orchestras concurrently during this period. Participated as soloist in a performance of Frank Martin’s Concerto for Seven Winds, Timpani, Percussion and Strings with the EPO in November 1981 and the solo timpani part in a performance of Richard Strauss’ “Burleske” with the Owensboro SO in January 1981.<\/p>\n

Albany Symphony Orchestra<\/a>
\nAlbany NY 1977 – 80
\nThe Lake George Opera Festival 1978-1983
\nPrincipal Timpanist
\nServed as principal timpanist of the Albany Symphony Orchestra from 1977 through 1980, and the Lake George Opera Festival Orchestra from 1978 until 1983.<\/p>\n

In addition, I have appeared as timpanist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra; Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, Lincoln, Nebraska; Kenosha Symphony Orchestra, Kenosha, Wisconsin; and the Chicago and New Chicago Chamber Orchestras.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
